It was a great summer of reading for me. I read 23 wonderful books and although you're probably not heading for the beach, they'll be good fall reads too. Maybe place a hold at the library now for a chilly afternoon by the fire.
I'm not sure why, but I love reading suspense and thrillers in the summer. I rated these books based on just how suspenseful they felt to me. It's not a measurement of which I liked better. In fact, since I'm kind of a wimp, I preferred the books on the low end of this spectrum to the more suspenseful ones. But if you're looking for a book that you almost can't breathe while you're reading, start on the right and move left.
If you know me, you know I love historical fiction. It's what I write and one of the first genres I pick up at a bookstore or library. I love feeling like I'm entering a new world or culture. Everything feels different and memorable. It's a perfect escape. If you agree, I invite you to enter these two houses.
People always talk about "beach reads" in the summer. But since we're back to school, I won't torture you with that term. However, I think of a beach read as sweet, fun, and carefree. These books are rated from beachy or delightful to dang! In other words, a little more heavy and uncomfortable at times, but so worth it.
The last group of books may be my best recommendations from the summer. Sometimes we need to be reminded of the goodness of people. These books helped me do that.
I don't want this to be one-sided. I know you all read stuff this summer too. Please comment below with any recommendations you have. I may need to put some books on hold right away.
